CIEDA partners to find innovative solutions to fill workforce pipeline

August 9, 2022

In the second quarter of 2022, the CIEDA team hosted eight business retention visits with major county employers. A trend across each entity was that despite the challenging economic times, many were experiencing continued growth and expansion. As a result, each company has a need to fill new job positions with qualified applicants.

In Rogers County today, unemployment sits at 2.7 percent, meaning that the number of individuals actively seeking work is low compared to the civilian labor force. This is leaving a number of high-wage positions across the county unfilled, providing a barrier to employers' productivity, growth and earning potential.

To support local employers in finding skilled talent, CIEDA has recently launched two new initiatives. The "Careers Portal" on growclaremore.com is a centrally located, user-friendly job board allowing Rogers County businesses and job seekers to advertise and search for open positions at no cost. CIEDA piloted the program with its manufacturing partners in the Claremore Industrial Park. Today the platform highlights over 200 career opportunities in various sectors, including manufacturing, health care, education, food service, banking and government. I encouraged you to visit careers.growclaremore.com to explore the many career opportunities across Rogers County.

In addition to the new hiring platform, the Rogers County Center for Manufacturing Workforce Excellence partnered with Northeast Tech for the first RoCo Ready training course. This free course series provided participants an opportunity to develop skills needed to start their career or reenter the workforce. The program consisted of extensive, hands-on job application, resume preparation, establishing an online presence and interview training. Activities also included a professional headshot session, Linked In Profile updates and tours of the Claremore Industrial Park, the Tulsa Ports.

This week the program celebrated its first two graduates! Both have completed the training with OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certifications. Congratulations to both of our pilot participants!
