John Feary has been named the Executive Director of the Claremore Industrial and Economic Development Authority (CIEDA), having most recently served at the City of Owasso. Feary has 17 years of experience in public and government relations joining the City of Owasso in 2008. He succeeds Jeri Koehler as she joins the City of Claremore as Deputy City Manager. At the City of Owasso, Feary acted on behalf of the city council and city manager in all matters pertaining to federal, state, and local legislative issues and provided oversight and management for all infrastructure capital projects.

“We are pleased to welcome John to this new post,” said Dr. Keith Ballard, CIEDA Chairman. “Claremore is experiencing a truly wonderful season of growth and transformation and we are confident that John’s leadership and relationships throughout the region and across the state will enhance our efforts. John is no stranger to northeast Oklahoma and is recognized as top talent.”

CIEDA is responsible for recruiting Main Street Tavern to the downtown district and engaged with Chick-fil-A, Planet Fitness, and Petsense to locate in Claremore. The organization’s focus on developing talent resulted in every Claremore public school being adopted by a corporate sponsor through the Claremore Partners in Education program and the formation of Claremore Collective– a young professional association –focuses on developing the next generation of local leaders.

The transition in leadership will usher in an aggressive focus on industrial development and the necessary infrastructure considerations that enhance a community’s ability to attract new businesses.

“I’ve had a close eye on Claremore over the past several years,” said Feary. “The community has tremendous leadership and is respected throughout the Tulsa metro. I look forward to bringing my experience to the table as we work to reach the city’s goals for economic development.”

CIEDA is a public trust organization formed in 1948 under Oklahoma state law established to make efficient use of economic resources and to stimulate economic growth and development for the City of Claremore. CIEDA facilitates the recruitment, retention, and expansion of primary industry jobs, and expansion of the sales tax base through recruitment of new destination retail businesses.
