The first line of the FFA Creed reads, “I believe in the future of agriculture.” Claremore’s FFA program has a rich history, with roots that run deep within the local community. While today’s average consumer is three to five generations removed from the family farm, Claremore FFA continues to expand and find success on both the state and national level.
The Claremore Industrial and Economic Development Authority (CIEDA) presented Claremore Public Schools with a 17-acre land donation Monday evening at the Claremore School Board Meeting. This land will be dedicated to further enhance the school’s future agricultural education facilities.
While the FFA organization is structured around a three-circle model, the livestock component is one of the most recognized aspects of the program. As both the City of Claremore and Claremore Public Schools continue to grow at a record pace, Claremore FFA is strategically looking to the future for opportunities that continue to best serve its diverse membership.
"This generous donation of property from the CIEDA organization for the future development of the Claremore FFA outdoor classroom and animal husbandry facility will forever change and expand the hands-on learning opportunities for all Claremore FFA members,” said Matt Boyer, agricultural education instructor for Claremore High School. “The FFA Motto says it best in allowing the more students to achieve the next level in ‘Learning to Do. Doing to Learn. Earning to Live and Living to Serve.’ Claremore Schools and the Claremore FFA chapter will be forever changed because of the new opportunities its members will now have moving forward."
The National FFA Association is committed to providing students with a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. It provides members with the skills needed to develop their unique talents and explore interests in a broad range of career pathways.
“The life and career skills students acquire during their FFA experience mirror those desired by industry,” said John Feary, executive director of CIEDA. “CIEDA greatly appreciates and values its partnership with the Claremore FFA Chapter, and we look forward to the future as we collaborate to foster the next generation of workforce in Rogers County.”
CIEDA and Claremore Public Schools partner in efforts to foster career pathway opportunities for students to ensure a robust workforce pipeline. Utilizing student job placement, career simulation programming, and direct connections to employers, CIEDA can actively work to ensure students are engaged with future career opportunities.
“Rogers County is home to numerous career opportunities for our students,” said Bryan Frazier, Superintendent of Claremore Public Schools. “The new agricultural facilities will aid in providing our students with a solid foundation which will serve as a catalyst for ensuring long-term career success.”
